Highsmith Rich, MA, LMHC is a Clinical Interviewer Response to Risk Research.  

Highsmith Rich, M.A, LMHC is involved in the ProNET, Uplift, and InVEST studies at Response to Risk, interviewing adolescents and young adults who are at clinical high risk for psychosis.    
Academic:
Highsmith holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Boston College, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  They currently teach master’s counseling courses at Boston College including adolescent development and experiential Foundations of Counseling. They provide trainings on feminist therapy, non-binary, queer, and trans-affirming counseling, and identity development for young adults. Highsmith is a Certified Options Counselor and has experience in both consulting and research.  

Interests and Experience: Highsmith is the owner of a therapy private practice, HS Counseling, where they work with adolescents and adults. Highsmith prioritize queer-affirming care, focusing on identity development and understanding the ways society impacts one’s feelings of choice. Highsmith is passionate about understanding systems of privilege and oppression in order to empower their client’s to make choices that often fall outside cis-heteronormative, patriarchal expectations. They are heavily invested in teaching, advocacy, and equity in mental health.
